This species can be recognized by its predominantly black body
with pink tubercles arranged in small clusters. Others species
with similar coloration differ in the arrangements of lines and
tubercles. It is relatively common and is found from shallow water
reefs to deep reef slopes. It is found at a depth of 15 to 130
feet.
